I woke up with an awful upset stomach, then heard the rest of my family had it too.

I'm not having much luck keeping anything, even water, down. Any hints on how I can recover faster?

Thanks!

There's not a lot you can do until the bad stuff passes thru your system. Just try your best to stay hydrated - small amounts (like a teaspoonful!) of fluids (try flat gingerale or coca-cola or sprite) every ten minutes until you go 4 hours without vomiting is good. An ice pop or something will work too. When you go 4 hours without heaving, increase the amount of the sips of fluids.

You don't want to stop any diarrhea either - it'll slow down the bad stuff getting out of you.

If you don't stop vomiting after trying the small sips of fluids (it basically fools your body system called peristalsis - which is the contractions that move food and stuff thru your system) and you don't pee in 8 hours or more, call your doctor - you may need some medical intervention.

Feel better!!

you could try taking a probiotic supplement..or eat some yogurt..it will promote the benificial bacteria in your gut to help kick out the bad bacteria..also try to drink lots of fluids..try tea if water does not work, if you are seriously ill go to a doctor..
