I've had psoriasis on my scalp since I was a baby and my favorite shampoo is Neutrogena T-Gel (but it really reeks). Shampoo with tea tree oil might also help.

I'm currently occasionally using a low-dose topical steroid on my scalp that has helped a bit, but you'll have to get a prescription for that.

If your problem is a result of dry skin, and not the fungus that causes dandruff, then please do not follow the advice of those who told you to use t-gel or head and shoulders.

If it's dry skin, please try the following. Purchase salon products, NOT walmart type products. There are many people who'll tell you that salon products are the same as walmart products but they aren't. In chemistry class I did a paper of the difference. Would it surprise you to know that the pH of walmart type products is pretty much the same as you'd find in common carpet cleaner? It surprised me. However the slightly more expensive salon products are pH Balanced to be gentle on your scalp. I'd suggest trying a lower cost salon in your area such as a "Cost Cutters" or "Fantastic Sams" and look for "Back to Basics" which is a nice quality, but cheap salon brand.

After you switch to a salon shampoo, remember to only wash your hair 2 to 3 times in 7 days. No more. You'll dry your scalp badly. Use a light conditioner.

Visit a beauty supply store such as "Sally's beauty supply" and purchase one of two products. Either a "Cholesterol" oil treatment or a "Placenta" treatment. If you cannot find a store that sells these you can try your own at home mix. Use olive oil, an egg, and some honey. The amount depends on how much hair you have. Make as much or little as you need. Pour it on, rub it in and leave it sit for ten minutes once a week. Shampoo it out.

Oh, and never EVER use more than a dime to quarter size drop of shampoo. If you're male or have short hair, a dime size is appropriate.

Best Wishes

Try applying avocado: make a mash from the pulp and simply apply it to your hair. Put a shower cap oin and let it work for 15 to 20 minutes. Then orceed to wash it: you will not require conditioning afterwards. It sounds gross but it is effective.

Don't wash your hair everyday, especially in the winter. Get a dandruff shampoo such as Head&Shoulders or T-Gel

T-gel works the best...when you use it scrub it in and let it sit for 10 mins or more...then wash it out
