I would think your body is craving Vitamin C, and you enjoy the cold delicious flavor and texture. But two things, they are very high in acid, which can damage your teeth and tummy. Also, grapefruits are a little sour, so are you piling on lots of sugar to sweeten it> white sugar is empty calories,,,not at all good to be loading up on. I love grapefruit, too, and would slice one every night, fix 1/2 for the AM and finish off the other half right there at the sink,,,,but was adding lots of sugar and the acid finally got too my stomach.

Grapefruit is a good source of vitamin c, other vitamins and fiber. My only concern would be if you are taking any type of medication, grapefruit can react with it and cause the medication to not work as it should. Other than that, enjoy your grapefruit.

Grapefruit is very refreshing, don't you think?
"Grapefruit-Seafood Cocktail" - 6 servings
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1 tsp. instant minced onion
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. salt
1 grapefruit; pared and sectioned
1 (7 1/2 oz.) can crabmeat; drained and cartilage removed
1 cup cleaned cooked shrimp
1/3 cup chopped green pepper
Bibb or leaf lettuce
Stir together chili sauce, mayonnaise, onion, sugar, Worcestershire sauce and salt; chill.
Cut grapefruit sections into bite-size pieces; drain. Combine grapefruit, crabmeat, shrimp and green pepper; toss.
Arrange seafood mixture in lettuce-lined shells or cocktail sherbets; chill thoroughly. Just before serving, top each serving with mayonnaise mixture.
(NOTE: Can substitute one 4 1/2 or 5 oz. can shrimp.)
"Broiled Grapefruit" - 2 servings
Cut grapefruit in half; remove seeds. Cut around edge and sections to loosen; remove center. Sprinkle each half with 1 tbsp. brown sugar.
Set oven control at broil and/or 550*. Broil grapefruit 4-6" from heat 5-10 minutes or until juice bubbles and edge of peel turns light brown. Serve hot.
