with other religious types, they always seem to not freak out, when on the other hand, the religious ones go crazy?

because the religious ones feel that they are in the right and that is there job to convert as many people as they can in order to gain entrance to heaven or somehow look better in gods eyes...or it could just be to make themselves feel better....but they can't peacefully allow someone to have a view outside there religion...that's part of the reason I lost mine.

I think that yes, some religious types do sort of freak out, probably because their faith is emotion-based.

But I do have to say that while atheists do not "freak out", I find that most (yes, most, not some, not many, but most) tend to resort to name-calling to make a point.

I recently read a Time article of highlights of a debate between an atheist scientist and a christian geneticist, and I noticed that the atheist used a lot of name-calling when making his points. It made him seem rather ungracious; in fact Time included the part where the christian fella had to actually ask him to stop - knowing how space-crunched Time was to include as much info as possible, it seemed fairly obvious to me that they noticed it too.

I'm an atheist and I am not sure if what you say is true. I have heard atheists get freaky before and I have seen religious people stay fairly calm. I am talking about what I have seen in person. Maybe in other forms of communication passions run a little higher.

I don't go crazy. I am a Christian and prove rational answers to people who have questions. You just think we are being irrational because you do not have the same beliefs as I do, and therefore feel like we are being irrational with information that cannot be backed up, but have you ever read the Bible? No. It is a required text for college, maybe if you've read it you'll understand why. But I guess you didn't go to college, or you wouldn't be asking this question. Well, I'll see you at McDonalds in a week. Or are you the local crack dealer?

Um, we are honestly smarter than the final animals, perhaps not as quickly, not as good, not as lively or perhaps the main progressed in aerodynamics with the aid of using our very own physique with out technological assitance or perhaps lung skill and the skill to breath underwater with out help, yet we are the smartests besides monkeys and dolphins. We arn't greater advantageous than them nonetheless. One swip from a lion and we are down. One tangle with a horse and we are in a forged. One attempt to outrun a zebra and we are being given oxygen. we at the instant are not greater advantageous than animals, in basic terms smarter.

I find the opposite to be true and I question why it is that other atheists (I am one myself) want to take away people's beliefs.

What is the motivation? Why can't they let people believe what they wish?

I learned a long time ago religion is a good thing on balance and it helps people deal with every day issues dealing with morality and especially death.

I think a lot of so called atheists are not really atheists but are Christians who have authority issues and are mad at God for one reason or another and wish to lash out.

Being an atheist is being absent of a religion. But some atheists act like its a religion all to itself.

I just speak truth.
Plain, Simple
and whenever needed sientific, historical, biologicl and biblicl facts to back it up.
Mine is not some random disprovable facts of an old overplayed fake religion, but grounded in faith and fact truth.

Maybe they don't want to say too much, so they don't offend other people. Or maybe because they don't believe in anything, they have nothing to stand up for. Or maybe atheists tend to not really care about the mysterys of the universe because they know that they can never know for sure. Or maybe they lack passion since they lack faith.

Yikes! With the generalizations--well, your question was general too.

Not always true, I'm an atheist and I've gotton so frustrated I've just lost it. Now I am pretty chill about it, but it took me a while to learn that the louder argument isn't the better argument.

Very often the Atheists come across as arrogant, and assume they know it all, when they don't realize that they are displaying their ignorance by calling themselves Atheist instead of Agnostic.

You hear from the freaks because the wise ones know better than to waste their breath on arrogance.
