I think 1/2 cup peanut butter wouldn't hurt, or some chopped pecans or walnuts, if you have them. Good luck :)

The best way to vary the flavor, particularly if you want peanut butter, is to add peanut butter chips to the mix and then more on top after they are in the pan. You could also chop up some Reese's peanut butter cups for the topping. Any candy bar will work!

Adding peanut butter to the mix will be adding more moisture and fat and may possibly ruin the whole batch unless you alter some of your other ingredients. It's best to follow tried and true recipes. See below.

There is a plethora of chips available these days. You can purchase anything from toffee chips, mini M&M's, mint, all varieties of chocolate and now Nestle even has swirled chips. In the swirled varieties you can even get caramel/chocolate, peanut butter/chocolate as well as red, green and white chocolate. The best part of using chips is that they don't alter the moisture or fat content of the basic recipe but add variety of flavor and texture.

The cost of adding chips or candy bars is nominal and VERY easy.

Here's the Betty Crocker web site (brownie section) that has more ideas. The first recipe listed is a peanut butter brownie that uses a mix. Several of the recipes are from scratch but several call for the boxed mix as a base....

The sky is the limit. I have done cookies and brownies with a combo of coconut, chocolate chunks, raisins, nuts, and soft caramels cut up. It is sort of my own creation. lol I call them "kitchen sink cookies/brownies." They are not bad at all. Since you probably have none of these ingredients (you said you didn't have much on hand) stick with the peanut butter. Add a 1/2 cup and see what you get. Peanut butter and chocolate how bad can that be?

Cinnamon, or, more cocoa makes them more chocolaty. mmmmm. Hot chocolate mix.

Granola if you have any, but soak in a little milk first.

If it is sweet and goes good with breakfast -sprinkle on top when done. If it doesn't taste good, take it off and cover with the peanut butter.

(hard to remember what is usually in a dorm kitchen)

Any chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or nuts. If you add peanut butter, use it in place of the oil. That should work fine.
