i have heard that grass-fed beef is becoming more and more popular but never really thought about it until now. how do they get their protein?
is there a taste difference or look difference? some people say the fat is a yellow fat due to the chemical that is in grass and i carries on to the meat. has anybody tried grass-fed beef? they say it takes a little longer to grow them out but they sure are better! that is what my grandpa says but who knows if he is right. . . just wondering. might have to raise a few.

tell which state it is from. [lots of practice]
the protein comes from the grass itself [in fact] all grass is edible just cook it like you do ternip greens.
no the fat color stays the same whether on grain or open field.

Corn fed beef has more fat and the fat is whiter. It is more tender than grass fed beef. Grass fed beef has more flavor, but may not meet approval of most Americans. Americans are raised on mild tasting meat that is tender. Some Eastern European look down on American meat, because of its lack of taste. I've eaten New Zealand grass fed Beef and its a little gamey. Some prefer grass fed, because its more natural and environmentally sustainable. People have different preferences, so my suggestion is to try some grass fed and see how you like it. As for protein, cows just make it. The problem with mad cow disease is that agribusiness found that if you feed extra protein (Meat) they grow bigger faster. The mad cow scare is one of the reason why grass fed is prefered by some.

I lived in northern Mn for 25 years where most of the cattle are grain fed. I moved to Mo where most of the cattle are grass fed. I can't eat or even smell the beef here. It makes me so sick to my stomach, and has the 9 years I've been here. The only time I can ever eat beef is when I'm back in Mn. There's a huge difference. And if you have grass allergies, as I do, it makes it that much more of a problem.
(And I know it'll sound silly but I've seen many-a-cow pee and then eat the grass they peed on.....not appetizing at all, mon ami.)
