Funny I remember reading that and I was going to E-Mail you too. I was going to say how much we had in common though. A lot of what you said does fit with Buddhist belief. I dont agree with their views on reincarnation but you would need to study that for yourself! I think of them as Atheists because they dont worship a God or Goddess. They may pray in front of an image of The Buddha but they are not worshipping it as a God!
It doesn't make you a Buddhist but you might like it if you are seeking a religion! It is only my opinion on Atheism someone will say I'm wrong because Atheism is a personal belief. We dont all agree what makes someone an Atheist!

Buddhists are not atheists. Neither are they agnostics. However, there are similarities as Buddhists do not believe in the existence of God or in worshiping or idolising Buddha. Buddha is seen only as a Teacher.

Maybe they were a JW

I would give you the same answer I gave 2 people suffering from depression and such like.

Most religion nowadays is TOO COMPLICATED

The best is simple.

What did Jesus say?

Love God
Love your brother/sister.

That sounds crystal clear and right to me.

I stopped listening to sermons on the radio because they were more like a theology lesson. Who wants that?

I find it sad that it is hard to explain to someone that you know rather than believe. I just do. If you have a half decent heart, I hope God will reach out and gently pull you near Him (gently).

Well Buddhists are different from atheists, however, it is possible to hold values of a religion without believing in God. I'm not entirely sure what that would qualify you as, though. If you believe in Buddha then you are a Buddhist, but if you don't you're still allowed to believe in other aspects of the religion.

Buddhists may be Atheists, or Agnostic, or Christian, etc.,. Buddhism is a philosophy of life, not a religion. You can easily mix Buddhism with any -or no-religion.

Buddhism is an atheistic religion, in technical terms. (as far as I know... all of my Buddhist comrades, please correct me if I'm wrong) The Buddha is not worshipped as an idol or a god, but looked up to as a role model, like Confucius to Confucianism, per se.

I don't put Buddhists in the same category as atheists

In Christian terms you are an Atheist. Buddhists still believe in a greater reality, and they may or may not believe in a transcendent intelligence. Buddhism is a spiritual tradition, and it is organized, so they may or may not consider it a religion.

If you beleive in reincarnation you should be excommunicated. As far as Buddhism is concerned, okay; but be aware that Buddha had a protruding belly whereas Jesus was physically fit, and in St. Mark it says he went to the gym regularly. Regarding atheists, I do not understand your question. I have heard that most atheists are pickpockets.
