I dreamed there were these cattle mutilations going on in my front yard, and then these awful cult-like people were somehow causing people to bleed to death, and I could see it all from my bedroom window. There were people out there on gurneys and dying. I became so afraid for my family and me.

Now when I woke up I thought that was silly. I didn't feel fear. But why would I dream of having such strong fear?

Jim - you are partly right. If there's anything in my life I really fear right now, it's probably about classes. But wow, is failing a class as bad to my subconscious as people dying outside my window?! I guess I should relax a bit, huh?

this is natural and normal Dream and fear, there's several possibilities as to why you dreamed this dream... i could not begin to speculate based on the information you provided.. what you dream is secondary to the state of affairs you are presently in or going/leaving from.
that is a better indicator of reasons for the fear..
it is said that we have several tools to help aide us such as feeling that you are being watched and you look around and see that you are... we feel/sense others eyes on us. or feeling that a situation/place/person/event is "right" or "not right" (intuition) i believe that the dream is another sense that we use... you i believe have the answer... there is no question without an answer... your answer is probably right (99%) chance, because you analyzed your dream yourself (answered your question..
may i suggest that you take control over your dream it is possible to dream what you want to dream.. with practice..
try thinking of clouds before you go to sleep, water, landscape,
these are the easiest to get you started.. then focus on what you would like to dream about (it takes time) but you can and will focus your subconscious on your conscience thoughts/images.

sorry to b so long winded.. this is vital and a tool that we seldom use. and its for our peace

There is no real explaination for our dreams other than somehting dramatic event in out lives. It's like Catholics often dream or claiom to experience Virgin scenes or dreams, butno one else does,
Our dreams usually if scary are built out of soemthing tha tis bothering us or something tha thappened to us. If we are stressed or in pain or suffering depression from a lost loved one we often extend that suffering into our sleep in the form of dreams.
World wide the fear of a nuclear war and the anilation of life on earth caused many bad dreams during the Soveit/American cold war. This was felt evenmore so than WW1 Or WW2 as modern communications witht he radio, and tv brought it all to us as it happened everyday.
Sometimes just being too tired or studying too much or worry will bring in dreams which leave us in different stages of fear, stress, or a feeling of something to come.

Well, it could be partly your subconcious, but for the most parts dreams are meaningless.

Here is a quote I like when I have had a strange or frightening dream, from HDG Srila Prabhupada:
"So far dreaming is concerned, we regard dreaming condition as another form of illusion or maya, only more subtle, that's all. But just like we may be serving Krsna in our waking state and thinking about Him then, so also it is possible to dream about Krsna and the spiritual master ... if we occasionally dream of Krsna, that is nice, that means you are making advancement in Krsna Consciousness."

Of course you may substitue with your religion, however I feel that all religions are a pathway to God and to God consciousness. Peace.

I don't know why we dream the things we do. I sometimes have awful bloody dreams of children being killed! Blood everywhere ans I just want to protect the children! I don't know why I have these dreams I don't watch scary movies before I go to bed I hardly ever watch them in fact and in most of these movies the victims are teenagers and in my drams the victims are children! Boy! I hate it when I have these dreams. When I wake up I almost always am flinging my arms out in front of me.

You are right, it means you are afraid of something. Beware of other's interpretations. They may read their own autobiography into your dream. Feelings are important in the dream state, but dreams are not necessarily prophetic, so relax. In my opinion, the dream is significant. But it is not about classes.

I don't know if this helps, but I heard that if you see blood in your dream, it means that the dream is fake. It's not gonna happens. :)
