Depends upon what kind of insurance you're talking about.

Auto insurance: Yes

Workers comp insurance (for employers): Yes

Business liability: Depends upon the city or town.

Most other kinds: No

The first person is correct. Health insurance is not required and neither is car insurance. I've lived here my life, too. But definitely get car insurance... you'll regret it if you don't. lol I didn't have insurance... now I have no car.

every state requires insurance, some are more lax than others in enforcement.
most eastern states require prooof of ins to register a car, and some require to get a d lic.

Yes, they even go around and measure your tire tread to see if your tires are good, while you are park in the cities.
