When the puppies are 6 weeks old, you should introduce puppy food to them. When my dog had puppies, while they were partially weaned, we would put water in the puppy chow, and heat it up until it was lukewarm. Little by little, we added less water, and eventually just put dry puppy kibble out for them to eat.
(P.S. Do NOT feed cat food, as it is too rich, for dogs to eat.)
By 8 weeks old, they should be on dry puppy kibble, and fully weaned from momma.

u shouldn't be feeding them anything the mother should be still, but if they have teeth and the mother isn't feeding them as she should then feed them very little can puppy food mixed with formula specially made for puppies. do that when u see they are hungry and the mother doesn't want to fee them properly, or at least 2-3 times a day as long as they are still nursing some

If they are just a week or so. They need Puppy milk. Have to feed them by bottle. If they are about 6 to 7 weeks old. Get wet puppy food. Mix soft puppy dry food.In it. Good Luck

The best way is to go to the vet and get some "Science Diet Puppy Food". On the back it will give you directions on use. Be sure if it is a big breed of dog that you get "For larger dogs". It helps in the development of bones. I have used the food and let in soak in warm water to soften it up. They seem to like it. GOOD LUCK!!! I would start feeding them puppy food at 5-6 weeks!!! Or when mama doesn't want them eating anymore.

try puppy food mixed with water or puppy formula to make it mushy. Don't feed cat food! It is for cats and is not made to meet the nutritional needs of small puppies.

Give them a quality puppy kibble, such as Canidae, or most any you find at a pet supply shop (not the grocery store) and pour hot water over it, let it set for a bit, and then mush it up. I like to feed puppies in a pie plate, and they pretty much wade in, but mom cleans them up good..
They are ready to feed now....3 weeks to 4 weeks old is when they should begin...Feed 3 times a day until they are weaned from mom, and then 4 times per day.. It is time to get them de-wormed, now, and each 2 weeks until they have homes..Yes, they DO have roundworms..
Aslo, clip their little toenails at 3-4 weeks, so they don't scratch mom so badly and she will feed them better..

You should start trying to feed your pups at 3 1/2 to 4 wks. old.I prefer the Iams puppy dry formula.Soak it in warm water til softened, then ad a small amount of a god brand of canned puppy food.In no time at all they will be eating all by themselves, but remove Mom first ,or she will take it away from pups. You may have to sorta put their little nmounth in at the beginning, but they soon learn how good it is.Keep fresh water for them daily.Good luck with your new pups.

Go to your vet or to a reputable pet store and ask them what they recommend. MamaDog should be feeding them for their first few weeks, but it sounds like they're getting close to weaning age. Ask professionals for things like this. The pups will be glad you did.
