I Love to watch the color guard. I am so impressed with the hard work that you all put in to your routines and enjoy the way the flags seem to just fly perfectly. I am sorry that you hate it, but if it helps, you give others the pleasure of watching you talented bunch march! Are you able to quit? Or are your parents wanting you to continue for some unknown reason? Do what your heart tells you to do...why be miserable doing something that you hate? Plenty of time for that when you have to get a job!

Are you talking about a Drum & Bugle Corps, a Marching Band, Winter Guard, or Drill Team?

Not sure which marching art you are referencing. Drum & Bugle Corps' have incredible color guards that are more like dancers.

For instance, Blue Devils Drum & bugle Corps did a performance this year dedicated to the Godfather movie.

In 1981 and 1982, Phantom Regiment did Spartacus. The color guard comes on the field in chains like slaves. When Spartacus is forced to kill his best friend in a Gladiator duel, a red streamer of ribbon flies out of her chest to symbolize the blood spurting.

omg DCI....

Yeah, in general- GOOD color guards are hard to put together, therefore they are mostly useless. I know they have fun and meet people and all that- and their parents come to games and watch their kids too.... But whatever. Mostly they don't take it seriously and end up looking bad. My band director in high school started doing cuts- and if members of the squad couldn't nail the routine the Friday rehearsal before the game- they had to sit out for the next game. It was a good thought....

Yea, both my sisters were in color guard. They said it was fun, easy, and they meet a lot of people. Why don't you like it?

haha.

Ah, you arn't alone. There are many of us who just don't really like guard at all.

I write drill for a couple of high schools in my area, and I always have fun writing near to impossible moves for the guard and laughing at them struggle to do them.

(enter evilish laugh here)
