If I put a "stop payment" on a check that I issued to a credit card company (but have paid them the same amount, which is more than the minimum due, by ACH), what are the possible consequences:

a. legally
b. from my bank?
c. from the credi card issuer?

Thanks in advance.

A. Nothing
B. You have to pay the stop payment fee.
C. You'll probably be charged the bounced check fee by the credit card company.

You'd be better off contacting the credit card issuer and asking them to intercept the check and return it. Or ask them to reverse the ACH transaction if they've already processed the check. That will avoid any fees.
