yeah, and don't be offended by the people who ask why you would train a dog to use a litterbox. my b/f parent's dog is a chiuahuahua<- you get it- and when they are gone all day and no one is there to let him out, he uses the litterbox. he still goes outside people- it's just a convenience thing. it works well especially if they are little. He won't likely cover it up like a cat but when he has to go, put him in the litterbox. You might have a couple accidents, but a little training is all he/she needs. be patient.
good luck.

Yes...It can be a good thing!! A small dog is less likely to want to run out in the cold, rain, snow, etc. and may refuse to pee in conditions like that, but leave a wet spot on your living room floor later!! (Some big dogs do the same, but have a much harder time fitting in a litter box than a small dog!)
And if your dog is older, it just takes more patience. My mom is training an 11 year old dog now. After a couple of days, the dog would pee in the litter box. It hasn't pooped in it yet, though, but it hasn't been long since she started training this one.
You can even train your dog/cat to use the toilet!! They have special seats for them so they can get used to it and not fall in!
Good luck! BE PERSISTANTand don't forget to REWARD YOUR DOG!!!

Ummm yes, the first part and most disquisting, is to grab some of the dogs poop, and put it in the litter box, he will then figure out that this is where it belongs, and he will do this, this isi how i taught my hamster how to be potty trained, hope this helps!!

Why bother training an old dog to do new tricks, just get a big dog or a cat.
