well if its an issue of them not being comfortable with you in the kitchen alone maybe you can coo with their supervision until they are fine with it, and little by little they will see that you are safe and all the other stuff that goes along with cooking. it really depends on how old you are too, i say if you are in jr high or older they shouldn't have a prob with that. good luck and happy cooking!!

VOLUNTEER to take over cooking details for a day a week -- and that means -- ALL the details -- organizing the materials, cleaning the pots/pans, and then making sure the dirties are washed up after the meal too.
I am sure that if you tell your step-mother that you are doing this because you want HER to have an opportunity to sit down and RELAX after a long, hard day at work, and to THANK her for taking care of you ... that would do the trick ... and really please her.

Why not set them up.Find an opportunity anyway possible.For example,if your parents are out and they're not cooking,why not you take over the kitchen and cook up a storm?Cook a recipe that's out of this world!Make them impressed by your special abilities.It'll work.

Find ur dad favorite dishes, and ur step mom does not cook. Then ask ur Dad how will it be if I can cook that dish.
or
Get up early, much before anyone getsup, and cook ur dads favorite dish.

tell them to give u a chance and just cook. or cook when they are not home and surprise them when they get home.
