It is caused by a virus affecting the brain. It is communicated by animal bite, rarely scratch. There are periods of agression , apprehension alternating with normal behavior. In animals, it does not last beyond 10 days. It is uniformly fatal. There is no cure. There are spasms of the throat muscles on attempting to drink water. Therefore, the patient is afraid of water and the disease is also known as hydrophobia. The incubation period is long and variable. It is shorter if the bite is near the head and neck. Rabies is preventable by giving human diploid cell vaccine and immune serum.

You know there is so much information available. Go to your search bar and type in "rabies" and a bunch of sites will come up that will explain rabies. Also check out "rabie symptoms", "rabie vaccine", "rabie virus", and "rabie vaccine side effects". This should keep you busy tonight! Good Luck!
