I have had 3 Pits over the years .I have a 4 year old female now. None of my dogs have been dangerous or aggressive(well unless you're a squirrel). I think the issue is as a mass people believe what they are told and the media tells them Pits are bad. Then there are the $hitheads who have no business having any kind of dog, let alone a powerful breed. they end up with untrained unbalanced dogs who often get themselves in trouble. Then of course the cruel Pit fighters, a dog prime for pit fighting is not a dog that should be around people yet they often are, and again they get themselves in trouble. The Pits blessings(power and tenacity) are also his curse because these are the attributes that draw the gang bangers and Pit fighters to the breed. It is the misdeeds of the irresponsible people not the breed that should be blamed. I love the breed and I love my dogs.

People are greedy, they make money by fighting pittbulls. As for the pittbull being mean. It's all in how the dog is treated and raised. If someone hits the dog it will fight back. If you don't take care of the dog. By feeding it and giving it water. It will get out and could turn on someone. Why people would do a dog that way. I'll never understand. I have been around pittbulls and rottweilers all my life. None of them have ever attacked anyone. There very loving animals.

well, start by thanking your local media. You know that the lab down the street just doesn't grab those headlines like the name PITBULL. then thank the idiots that are elected then pass their own ignorant agendas and then last but not least. Thank the idiots who have no business owning a Pitbull because they do not value their dogs or just don't care. these people can make a goldfish vicious.
All I can tell you is to become active in any anti-BSL organization even if it means you just write majors and councel members in the hope of stopping another BSL from passing.

Gee, I wonder why...
Pit Bulls have killed an average of 4 people per year for the past 10 years. Most of those killed were children or babies.
You may think they're cute, but they have violent tendencies that are NOT bred out of them, and they can "lose it" fairly easily. Once they get into that attack mode, no amount of training you've given them is going to stop them.
For your sake, I hope you don't have young children around. If one of your kids does the wrong thing when you're not around, you won't think your dogs are so cute anymore.
You're VERY naiive to think these dogs are cute and cuddly and have no tendence towards violence. You should really educate yourself before your dogs hurt someone.

I don't care what anyone says...pitbulls are beauiful creatures, they deserve respect and attention just like any other animal. Yes it's true that there are many incidences where they attack people but hey any dog could do that. Just because SOME have violent tendencies due to genes from their parents and horrible people doesn't mean they deserve this horrible reputation. I had a close friend who had one and he was the sweetest and most gentle creature I had ever met. Actually they were originally bred not JUST to fight bulls but ALSO and more importantly to help with children and the nursery in fact they were also nick named nursemaid dogs for their kindness to people. But now thanx to disgarcefull awful people SOME have been tortured into violence. And its also thanx to ignorant people who stereotype them that people hate and fear them. It's just not fair.

They have killed many children including ones that are part of their family, that's why. If people never fought them or did things like to make them agressive, it wouldn't be in their genetics but now it's too late so you can never ever trust them. The guy last week with the mauled to death 2 year old said his dog was a "sweetheart". I'm sorry but a labrador or a collie just wouldn't do this.

I think it should be against the law to breed these dogs and let the dogs die out. You might have buitiful ones but I tell you they are vicious. My neighbor has one that has to be put on what looks like a log chain and the dog stretches that chain out when you walk by. Another neighbor has one that will attack if you get near it and their dogs are always loose. This is a small town and we don't need this kind of protection. It is in the dogs DNA and they can't help it. Let them die out and there won't be a problem.

Simple fact,, just as a Shepperd is predisposed to herding animals, and a Retriever is predisposed to retrieving game, a Pitt is predisposed to fight (bite). It is all about what was the purpose of developing the breed. Almost all Pitts are wonderful loving pets, right up until the moment they attack someone.

I have pitbulls, and they are great dogs.
Unfortunately, because they "look tough" criminals like them...it's an "image" thing for a lot of other people.
And, many people are irresponsible. They don't socialize, train, or contain their dog. Many chain them up, and they become mean from lack of socialization and direction.
A lot of them are teased and tortured, but their owners and by people who pass them by and hate pitbulls because of the media.
Pitbulls are not the breed for everyone....but they are great for those of us who take the time to socialize, train, and direct them into beautiful well mannered companions.
