does the skin have to come off or can you put a tube in and put
salt in ?

I used to do this. Cut the foot off the leg about 5 inches above the ankle. Skin the foot up to the hoof. But leave the skin attached to the hoof. Scrape any meat and ligaments off the bone. Get a drill bit and remove bone marrow. Youll see its easy, 1/4 inch bit will do.Pack the foot with salt for about a week or 2 to totaly dry it out. Bend some 1/4 inch threaded rod in an L shape to lay against the bone extending 1 inch past the bone. So you can bolt it to the board when your done. Lay the L shaped rod on the bone, pulling the hoof up into the L shape. Start sewing at the hoof. When you sew the hide back togather the rod holds the foot in the proper shape. The stiches hide easly in the fur. Remember scraping is very important leave nothing except hide and bone. Everything else get cut out. Good luck.

The skin has to be cut right up to the hoof and the bone removed they have a kit at taxadermy.com to do this process if you do it your self the first time dont expect miracles it takes a little patience and practice do 1 leg at a time
