I am a Christian, and for those of you who are too, I know you understand the feeling we all have about being "homesick" for Heaven, even though we've never been there! We KNOW this world is not our REAL home, and sometimes I can't WAIT to be with my LORD!...(AND NO, I'm not suicidal, either, already lost 2 brothers to that) but I know ya'll understand me on this, right!
I think that's what Shlane means....

This is one type of burn out condition. You need to discover new things, get new hobbies, change your habbits, develope new interests.
You may be unsure of your self with respect to the future.
The biggest problem with our education is that we are lead to believe that we are good in a few things but not in anything else, we have no idea of our potential. When you choose a job or career, it should be something that you can do but also that is challenging, so that you can learn and grow on the job.
I went to school and got a degree in Mechanical Engineering because I was good in math, I got burnt out, and over the years I have been working desk jobs less and less. I don't like desk jobs (although I am a historical linguist and I write from time to time). I am now working as a cook and I love it, it keeps me active. The best thing you can do when you are young is to become well rounded.
Many don't realize the psychological pressure that we have at home to conform to what family and friends think is normal. Explore fun things to do through continuing education like dance classes, tai chi classes, yoga classes, pottery classes, automotive classes, or whatever you are in to. If you are of modest means go camping or fishing once in a while. If you have a little wealth then travel to exotic places.

Actually I feel the same way as you do, I don't have a death wish but if I knew I only had a short time left I'd be ok with it. But I know I'm going to Heaven. I think a part of it is I have a hard life and I know Heaven is going to be so wonderful and can't wait. However I know life is a school and like real school we have to go thru it to graduate. I still want to do more for God so with His Grace I'll trudge on. I think you are a little beaten down right now but you will be ok.

You sound bored. If you find a way to help other people and one by one make the world a better place, if only with a warm smile to the clerk in the store, you will find that you will have more zest for living. When you find this you will no longer feel that you are ready to go home. You will want to bring some of that 'home' to the ones who still sit in darkness.
Whatever your religion, you are God's hands in this world. Show the world the Love that so many desperately seek in all the wrong places.
Peace.

without knowing your faith it is hard to answer in a way that may help you. so i will just give you what i believe and leave it at that.
I am a Celtic Pagan. I long for life and the afterlife.
i believe in reincarnation of the soul. the reason for this reincarnation os so that the soul can learn humanity.
we live several lives experiencing everything that there is for a mortal to experience. so that when we become spirit guides ourselves we can relate to the struggles that people are going through.
life is meant to be enjoyed. take your time and live it. do not sit around waiting for the afterlife. take this time and make an impace on yourself and others. there are things that you can do here that you simply cant do in the afterlife. learn everything that you can and always seek to experience new things. and then when you stand before your god or creator and he/she asks you.
What dod you do with the life that i gave to you?"
you can honestly respond. I LIVED IT.

Don't go home yet. You may be OK with it but the people who are around you will never understand it.
Yes, I believe in God. But like the guy said in "Gladiator" , not yet.
There are a lot of people who have given you the right answer here. Listen to them and live your life. For whatever reason God has given us this life, lets find out why.

Technically once you have done, or gone through, the lessons for you in this life, more should present themselves. Life is a journey, not a destination. I believe in reincarnation, so death is a journey, not a destination too. We all die, it's unavoidable. This thought gives me peace when I'm in need. Just be patient, you'll 'go home' someday, in the meantime take advantage of the learning experiences here on Earth.

When my youngest son was about 4 or 5 He came up to one day and said dad this place scares me, I want to go home.
I said this is your home honey. He said no I mean back to God, I miss home.

God put you HERE for a purpose. You need to pray and ask God to show you His will. I assure you it is to accomplish something for His Glory here.
Have you ever considered counseling? Seriously. Have you tried talking to your pastor, parents, brother or sister? Respected elder.
Sister you need to pray and seek God's touch. It's all about Him and His way.
