windows sound?

sound works on games and other programs but not windows, start up shut down etc.

Are those sounds turned off?

Open the Control Panel (Start/Settings/Control Panel)

Open "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices"

Select "Change the sound scheme"

Make sure there is a speaker icon by "Exit Windows" and "Start Windows"

That should fix it.
