If they won a default judgment, that means you failed to show up for the hearing. In most cases, that waives your right to present a defense. Even if you had appeared in court, I doubt an error in your name is sufficient to dismiss the judgment as long as other identifying information is correct.

No options at this time.

In some criminal cases, a typo of a name can be grounds for dismissal.

This is a Tort case...a civil case. Try to work out a settlement with the Company. A lien on your property will show up in your Credit History for at least 7 years.

Good Luck

Why didn't you show up for court? By not showing up, you defaulted and that's why a judgement was entered against you. I don't think you have a case now.

Your only option is to pay. You had your chance to dispute with the company, the bureau, and then at court. That was your last shot.

I don't think there is anything you can do if they only entered your name incorrectly. Just try calling them and finding out if you can do anything.

If you were not in court to fight it, there is not a lot you can do at this point. A minor typo is not going to change anything.

Technically it isn't your name so you don't pay it. However it would be nothing for them to straighten that issue out and come after you once again for their money.
