Here is a website with suggestions:

One of the most popular New Year's events is called "First Night". It takes place all over the city, but mostly downtown. With one ticket, you can check out all sorts of entertainment but some of the lineups will be pretty long.

The City Hall is right across the street from the Sheraton Centre. Thats where the countdown occurs, along with a free show with many entertainers. If you've ever watched the Toronto countdown on TV, thats the one you'll have seen.

Enjoy your visit.

Great - you're practically across the street from the main open air celebration at Nathan Phillips Square. The hotel staff will point you in the right direction. It's free and it's exciting to be with all the people. You might also want to check out www.toronto.com for other ideas. Have fun!
