I wear glasses, and am thinking about getting some disposable contact lenses. What are the pros and cons? About how much are they? I know some you throw away each day, and some you can wear up to a week. Which are better?

i've heard if you get the daily ones, or the weekly ones, then you don't have to clean them. Is that true.

Prices of disposablet depends on whether you want daily, weekly or monthly. i have been using monthly for a few years and they are fine. However, i still clean it daily. When i travel, i will use daily disposable lenses so i don't have to clean it after a tire day out.

i found the below article useful too:

Disposable contact lenses are a popular form of vision correction. Many people like the convenience and look of contact lenses as opposed to eyeglasses. With disposables, you get a variety of benefits that you can't with conventional vial lenses that are replaced yearly. Lots of top manufacturers offer disposable lenses, including Johnson & Johnson, Ciba Vision, Biomedics and many more.

There are lots of different kinds of disposable lenses. One of the most popular is the one-day disposable contact lens, also called daily disposables. You'll find brand names like 1 Day Acuvue, Focus Dailies, O2 Optix, Biomedics 1 Day and Soflens One Day. These lenses are great because every day, you get to put in a fresh new pair of contacts. That means no pesky cleaning regimen and no irritation from old lenses.

Then, there are disposables with longer wear durations. Two week disposables are quite popular, with one of the leading brands being Acuvue 2 by Johnson & Johnson. With Acuvue 2, you can either wear them for two weeks if you take them out nightly, or wear them as extended wear for one week. Acuvue 2 also comes in a Colours variety, which feature both opaque and enhancer shades to either change or intensify the color of your eyes. Other popular brands of two-week disposables include Bausch and Lomb, Focus and Biomedics. There are even two-week disposable bifocal lenses available such as Acuvue Bifocals.

You can also find one-month disposables. These are lenses that you wear for one month then discard. Some of them must be taken out nightly, while others are extended wear and can be slept in. Focus Night and Day is one example of extended wear monthly disposables. For people who want colored one-month disposables, there are choices like Focus Softcolors. You can also find monthly toric lenses that are made for people with astigmatism.

Ive worn contacts for ten years now. Ive had the ones for 2 months and the ones for 2 wks. I think the 2 mth kind is cheaper overall. The only thing is that if u dont clean them good or daily u could cause serious eye damage. I had a corneal ulcer. which causes the blood vessels to grow the wrong direction which in time could cause blindness. But contacts overall are better than glasses cause u can wear sunglasses and they wont get fogged up like glasses

i wear them and im 13 yrs old. i think theyre about 12$ a box and u need 2 boxes(one for each eye). each pair lasts about 2 weeks and there are about 6 contacts in each box. the only thing is they get real dry easily and u cant wear them to sleep.

it is possible to wear contact lenses in the swimming pool but only WITH WATERTIGHT GOGGLES. However, contacts are only supposeed to be used in absoulute neccesity because of an increased risk of infection. The lenses themselves mustn't get come into contact with water, however, as a bug (I've forgotten the name) can form and potentially send you blind in 12 hours.
