I live in the East Bay county of Contra Costa (El Cerrito, CA) around SF..

The standard is 7.25% but many counties add their own to it.

I believe that the sales tax rate in Contra Costa County is 8.25%.

varies in the state...some areas like sf are 8.5 but most are 8.25
