Pregnancy at any age is stressful, more so for a teen-ager. It can be educationally disastrous but doesn't have to be. Education will be challenging and require lots of planning and organization. Education is extremely important for a pregnant teen. She needs to be able to care for herself and her baby. Normally, people get a few more years to plan out their future but for a pregnant teen the future is now. There is no more time to prepare.

It's both stressful and disasterous to your education.
However, with great family/friend support, they can both be managed.
The younger the mother, the more health complications there may be during the pregnancy and when the baby's born. It's also stressful being young and inexperienced and some girls can't deal with all the crying and the lack of sleep when the baby's born. That's why it's really helpful to have family & friends who are willing to help out in that department.
Depending on the school you attend, they may ask you to leave once you become "noticeable". Others don't mind at all and will allow you to continue to attend until you go into labour.
You'll be taking about a year off to take care of your baby, so you'll most likely end up graduating a year or so after you normally would, or, in some cases, some girls drop out of school to be a mother and work to support themselves and end up going through for their GED later in life.

I don't quite understand the question--like perhaps this is a poll-- but in my opinion--both!
And not just for 16 year olds! (The stressful part at least).
Although I am financially well off enough to handle three babies and I have my education and my employment and a house...I have to say that it is TRULY added stress in your household that you need to make sure you are ready for!
As for the second part..it doesn't *have* to be educationally disastrous but it definitely can be if there isn't the support for the young girl to continue in High School. She would eatery need daycare available at school or have some trusted, reliable, affordable form..which would be really difficult.

Pregnancy at any age if un planned is disastrous....An unwonted pregnancy by any age is a bad disastrous. A child cost a million to raise by the age of 21 years.of age.Children having babies are sad....I had my first child at 20 , I was married two years , not that I don't love him, I do with all my heart but , If I knew then , that I was forced to learn after he was born, I would have waited 10 good years to have a child.Deciding to have a child can be stressful for anyone and especially if your are a child yourself . You have to ask yourself :Can I feed and cloth this baby?.Can I give this child 24-7, Can I devote all my time making sure this child can be raised to be the best he can be?Will I have the help of the father or will I have to depend on the state to raise my child.Being 16 will you finish school and go to college? Where does all your friends and partying fit it?not that I gave my daughter permission to have sex, We decided to put her on birth control at the age 15, because she did not make enough in alliance to raise a child and my obligation to my child was to raise her not a child conceived by hormones. If you can not afford to give this baby a life it deserves , there are many couples that can't have children that are waiting for a child , that will be willing to help with expenses.

Both. Pregnancy itself puts the female's body through drastic changes, add this to the equation of going to school and trying to absorb information while you body is going through major changes. Back in the day you were not as easily accepted by your peers when you were 15, 16, 17, etc., and pregnant, because then everyone was suppose to be the good girl, but that isn't so in this day and age, teenage pregnancy seems to be acceptable, fashionable, etc. Then also think about the grandparents and how they are going to react. There are so many situations involved in this situation and it can be a very, very heavy burden to responsible teens. Don't get into the situation, but should it arise, handle the situation in whatever choice is made.

I became pregnant the first time at 16yrs old with my daughter. I would say it's more stressful then how it is now, 7yrs later. I think the biggest stress factor was that I was kicked out of school because you can no longer go if your pregnant and sent into a whole new place where I had to train for my GED. I missed my friends, teachers, my routine. I was being punished......never got prom or walk the stage to get my diploma.

Pregnancy and parenthood is stressful at any age.
I home schooled myself and graduated with flying colors at 16, so I dont find any reason why a pregnant girl cannot finish school and get a decent education.
My friend was pregnant at 15, had her baby at 16, dropped out, got married, and yet here she is, mid twenties, getting her college degree, all while working and raising her kids.
Children arent an excuse to fail in life, theyre every reason so succeed.

Both, pregnancy and child rearing are not for teenagers. They should be having fun and growing up. It could be done but I don't recommend it. What's the point? There are years yet to have babies! Enjoy life and wait until you are older to have children.

I don't think the education is a disaster. What IS a disaster is the fact that kids don't listen and don't pay attetnion to FACTS. They want to beleive what they hear from their peers, which is at least 90% of the time wrong and HARMFUL.

It can be both, but more importantly, it is often a disaster for the baby. Babies born to very young mothers have a greater incidence of prematurity, brain damage, crib death, failure to thrive, and an overall increased death rate. If this is a pregnancy in progress, please be sure an OB doctor is involved every step of the way!
If it's not, please don't consider it!
