Get some Monster Be Gone spray. Spray it in his room & closet.
BTW you make Monster Be Gone is made with vanilla extract & water in a spray/mister bottle. Just keep the kids out of the kitchen while you make it. Also works for bad dreams.

We had a trick that "empowered" our daughter. We would walk down the hall with her every night making as much noise as humanly possible. We would announce to all "monsters" in her room that they had better prepare themselves for the most horrible terror that ever walked the earth...a small child. Then we would do the "check" the closets, the dresser drawers even under the bed. We would make sure everything was secure and as I and her father left the room we would say something like "I sure pity the poor moster who comes out of hiding tonight because this kid is hungry for monster meat!" Of course there are no monsters at least to most adults. But a four year old's mind is far more imaginative so you have to come up with imaginative solutions. And remember just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exisit. If that were true we'd all be dead because you can't see air...

Every night before bed, you or dad do a complete "inspection" for monsters. Look in the closet, under his bed, behind chairs or curtains, etc. Once you deem the room "a monster free zone" give him "Monster repellent" - just a spray bottle with water and vanilla as someone suggested or a relabeled can of air freshener. Tell him to spray it around his bed on the floor and monsters can't cross it. Then flip on the nightlight and leave the door ajar a little. Or try a some baby powder or something in a ring around his bed on the floor. (it's going to suck to have to vaccum every morning to get rid of it, but that might be the price of a good nights' sleep.) If you have a pet, let the "guard" sleep in his room to protect him - otherwise, try giving him a new teddy bear or something as his guard.

When my oldest son went through this same kind of situation, I used a spray bottle of scented water and labeled it "Monster Spray". I imagine you could fill a small empty spray bottle with Febreeze. At bedtime, if he told me there were monsters in the room I patiently sprayed it everywhere he pointed to. It worked like a dream. He felt so reassured by this. The phase didn't last long for him. My husband was so impressed by this and asked me where I'd heard of it. I didn't. It just came to me. I'm so glad it worked. If you try it, I sincerely hope it works for you. If you have a night light in the room, it could be causing shadows. Currently, my 5 year-old likes to fall asleep with a light on. I put a lamp in the room that has a 3-way light bulb. I put it on the lowest setting and he feels safer in a semi-lighted room where he can see what is in the room without shadows.

Before my son goes to bed we check every inch of his room (behind the curtains, under the bed, in the closet, etc) and tell him very loudly no monsters here! Use Monster Spray (Febreze with a monster sticker of the front) and spray it around the room and tell him its used to keep the monsters away. Give him a flashlight at night and tell him monsters hate light and if he gets scared he can turn it on at night and it will also keep the monsters away.

My daughter had the same problem after watching monsters inc. We would send my husband in the room to GET AND EAT the monster and he would come out and say it tastes like chicken. Then when he was at work I would say there is no monster remember daddy ate him, we also made sure to watch all the behind the scene footage to show her it was all fake.

Be sure to close their drapes on the windows and make sure the closet door is shut. A night light works sometimes , but do try the spray it sounds like a great idea. If your furnace or heater makes noises be sure to explain or show that to them too.

i became terrified of monsters in my closet, monsters lower than my mattress, monsters outdoors of my window, and so on. I keep in mind being particularly youthful and wishing I had some extra mild in my room so i can make out the darkish splotches. My mom and father under no circumstances were given me a evening mild although that. My mom ought to attempt exhibiting me that there became not something lower than my mattress or in my room, yet I continually concept that the monster became there yet he became in simple terms hiding, so her attempt did not help me. at the same time as my son became little, the first time he presented up the perception of a monster, I in simple terms firmly informed him that monsters were not allowed in our homestead. That became the guideline and the monsters ought to not spoil it. thankfully, It became under no circumstances a controversy after that. i comprehend all little ones are different, yet I do imagine little ones matter upon our reaction.

My son went through that to.Have your husband go in there with a broom or stick before bed{make sure your son goes with him} Ask your son to point to where the monster is and have daddy beat the tar out of it. Make sure to make it loud and say things like"get out of here monster, stop scaring my son" It sounds silly but it worked for us.

Get him a nightlight or a flashlight and tell him the monsters are afraid of light. Also show him the movie Monsters Inc, and tell him the monsters are more scared of him than he is of them.
