Every time I turn on the heater I smell some type of fragrance. My central nervous system can no longer tolerate ANY fragrance, perfume, or other artifical scents.

The "new car smell" is really a combination of new carpet, some new paint and all that wrapped up in a car that is sealed so tight. I carpet manufacturing they use a form of formaldehyde (sp?) This may be causing issues. The fabric seat also produce manufacturing odors for a while. If they are leather then the tanning of the seats even bother me. Not sure you can ever completely get rid of that. You can ask the dealer to have the carpets shampooed with no fragrance and that should kill the odor. Although cooler weather is upon us a good day or two with the windows open can dull a lot of the scent.

I don't have an air freshener in my car. My car has new car scent because its new, mixed with leather interior. It also helps that I keep it crazy clean on the inside. I hate a mess! : )

No they do not, but the dealership may have sprayed some "odor neutralizer" in it. Go into the dealership and talk to the detail technician. The vinyl and plastic protectant we use smells like grapes... and the "scotchguard" stuff smells like oranges.

Basically it is the lubricants, solvents, adhesives, and perhaps some new vinyle that gives off the smell. It will wear out eventually...
