I have dirty blonde hair, and I've been getting highlights for a while. I got tired of shelling out $100.00 every 4-6 weeks, so I asked my hairdresser to dye it back to my root color. She said I had to go darker because it would fade. It DIDN'T fade. I bought an over the counter dirty blonde dye and Ferria highlights and did it at home. Now it's a brassy orange color. Is there something I can put on it to remove the redness? I am not going to the salon to get it fixed, I need something I can buy at a beauty supply store or any regular store.

there are toners that you can put over your hair to remove the redness. just go to any beauty store and they will be able to tell you which toner is best for you. and best of all, toners are harmless so will not damage your hair, but results will be dramatic. whenever i get blonde put in my dark hair, i always have to use a toner to get the goldish color out and make it more blonde. they work great.

This is called a color correction. If you have a little extra money, it would be best to go have a professional fix it. Anytime you dye your hair black and then try to lighten it, your hair will lighten to a orange or gold. If you are still wanting to do it yourself, you should re-tone it with an ash brown. The ash will cancel out the brassy color. Keep in mind that in these situations it is best to let the professionals handle it because you can make it worse by doing it yourself. Also, get a good color safe shampoo so that it doesn't keep fading so fast. Good luck!

Go to a local Beauty Supply store and buy a toner. It will take out most, if not all, of the brassiness out. After that, leave your hair as it is for a few days because all the dye will be irritating your scalp. Once that's done, if you want, you can go to the salon and dye it to your desired color or try dying it again yourself. I think this has happened to all of us at one time, I have naturally dirty/dark blonde hair, and I have accidentally turned it orange too.

Go too a beauty supply house that serves the public and purchase a product called color drabber. They should be able to tell you which one after seeing your hair. Use as directed and this will remove the brassiness. You may have to recolor however, so you may want to check for their advice on this matter too.

try a toner look on the back of the box for the color of hair you have now (the brassy color) and go by the chart on the back. Make sure you condition the heck out of your hair especially your ends

Ew. Try a stripping kit from Sally's. This may help. Just make sure to deep condition your hair a cuople of times a week from the chemical damage.
