Any one with flat feet is going to have that problem reflect upward into the back.. It distorts your posture by changing the angle of the femur to the hips and the adaptation above that level will take place.

The first thing that is necessary is to have those arches reinforced with arch supports.. that will eliminate the stress on the knees and alter the process above the level of the knees..It is always preferable to have these customized to your particular feet.. not just a support for the arch. There are other factors involved besides the arch itself.

You may call around and see if there are any Chiropractors who utilize a product called "Foot levelers." Then have follow up treatment to correct the adaptation process that has been taking place over the years.

In the interim, get a tennis ball or a bottle and roll your feet over it. Just to loosen them up a bit. You can use your hands to twist or manipulate them in some way to allow some loosening.. The feet are the most abused parts of the body and receive the least attention.

See a podiatrist about this to be sure. A shoe salesman is, respectfully, not a foot specialist. Find out what's really going on with your feet and then you can deal with this problem.
