my hands are cracking....ALOT. I've been using Vaseline and gloves for about 3 weeks now and I haven't been seeing any results. I heard that Bag balm and utter cream worked well. Anyways...my question is.. Which one is more effective? About how long till i start seeing results with these products? And does utter cream or bag balm smell bad?

Bag balm and udder cream work but they are not a delight to the senses. You will need to use a cream with lanolin to begin healing the cracked skin. A simple remedy is to go to the kitchen and take a spoonful of sugar and add a spoonful of olive oil, preferably, or avocado oil. You can use canola or vegetable oil. Rub this into your hands to exfoliate them of the dry, rough skin. Do this for a minute and rinse in warm water. Dry lightly and enjoy the smoothness. You can do this for a few days as a treatment. Vaseline is not such a great moisturizer. Just read the labels and get the highest lanolin amount that you can get. Your pharmacist can assist you, too. Best of luck to you! And remember to drink lots of water to moisturize from the inside out.

Well, this isn't exactly the answer you're looking for, but...
I use this product called "Beaver Balm" (haha). But seriously, It works wonders. You can find it at Cracker Barrel Restaurants.. Most of the restaurants have an old-fashion general store attached. (I love it there). Anyway, it comes in a green tin, and it's pretty cheap (around $4-$5). I always get dry, cracked hands in the winter.. and this stuff healed my hands completely in about 3 days. (Tried Bag Balm.. Really didn't work for me. =\ )

Kerasal works excellently on my dry, cracked feet. You get in the same area as Dr. Scholls products in the medicine aisle. I see a difference immediately when I use it.

My hands are the same way. They've been this way since I was a small child. To this day I haven't found anything that works wonders. I use globs of lotion and then socks at night. It helps.

Ironically, I just bought a hand lotion at Wal Mart. Nuetragena (not sure of the spelling) no fragrance lotion. It's really thick, doen't stink and in the last 3 days the hands feel alot better. (I hav a collection of lotions myself)

I used to have the same problem for years!! Two things that have worked for me, baby oil before bed, dampen your hands with warm water, massage baby oil on them, add baking soda to your hand soap and dish soap. Works like a charm!
Good luck!

Have you tried Lubiderm Lotion?? It works really well on my dry cracked feet. The drawback is that it is greasy! But, it works!
