You begin by purchasing and using products made from recycled materials. It's not hard to find packaging, for instance, clearly labeled as made from recycled paper or plastic.

Also, you may be able to reuse some products, or packaging, before you toss it out. I reuse plastic butter and yogurt tubs a few times before I toss them out. They are great to hold leftovers, and to let guests take leftovers home, without worring about whether the container comes back or not. I use them to mix egg and chicken salad, takes wet lunches to work, etc.

Finally, toss the most common recyclables into the proper containers, either at home or anywhere else you see them. Newspapers and magazines, cans and bottles are easily recylcled and converted into good quality, new products.

Most local communities have recycling programs, oftem beginning in the home, sometimes via school programs, and even private enterprises that will pay YOU to bring them good materials. Look in your local phone book.

I recycle at home by sorting out the recycle stuff from the trash and placing it in the recycle bin. I also encourage others to do so. I also re use everything I can and try and buy products made from recycled materials.

I also recycle by saving recycle items in my car when I am out and about, if there is no repository for them and taking them home.

More power to you.

call the local garbage company, sometimes they will pick it up, or call the city offices. In my town there are several collection sites. my town only takes all kinds of metals, #1 and #2 plastic (look on the bottom of containers and find the triangle with the number in it, and glass. It must be all resonably clean...oh I forgot about paper and boxes, them too.
