I would recommend trying to hook up with a local homeschool support group. They will be able to tell you all about the regulations where you live, what sort of things are available, etc.
Also, check out www.hslda.org yourself for the regulations and just surf the web a bit and check out your local library--there should be some books on homeschooling in the education section.
Beyond that, consider what type of homeschooling you want to do. You don't say how old you are, if you want a diploma or anything like that. There are a ton of online programs to choose from if you want to go that route. There are also just a ton of other programs available, period. A Beka, Robinson and Sonlight are three that pop into my head at the moment, but there are others, too--oh, like Switched On Schoolhouse, AlphaOmega... You may also just be able to do your own thing. Depends on the regulations where you live!
To those naysaying your interest, I say ignore them. Homeschooling can be great if you make it great.

Well, I was gonna write something very snotty then I looked at your profile and saw that you play guitar, so I won't be as snotty
The FIRST THING YOU NEED TO KNOW about home schooling is
ITS YOUR PARENTS' DECISION, NOT YOURS
And if they decide 'NO, you will NOT be home schooled' that's really the only thing you need to know
That was snotty. SORRY!
Your parents, most likely, love you to pieces, they want you to be happy today and tomorrow. They are not just raising a kid, they are raising you to become an adult. They made huge sacrafices for YOU! You really owe it to them to listen to them on this education matter.
to quote you'I want to be homeschooled, but i don't know much about it' - how can you be certain YOU want to be homeschooled? Certainly the idea of being free from school to practice guitar all day sounds very good, I'd sign up for that right now if it were availble to ME. But right now you have other more important things to do. You are (probably) a teen ager, the most important thing you can do right now is to prepare for your adult life. Its much better to prepare for being an adult BEFORE becoming an adult, if you don't know what I mean, look around at all the adults in dead end jobs, they will likely tell you they could have prepared differntly for being an adult, then they would not have gotten stuck, carrer wise
Starting homeschooling without you parents is dropping out of school, please don't do that

How do your parents feel about this?
The danger is that you do not become more educated than your parents and you do not have all the resources that schools have. Also, you do not have the experience of being in a classroom situation with some really brilliant teachers who can help you learn much more than you imagine.
Here are some links:

You will have to take tests to see if you meet the State requirements for each semester (I believe)
You can also network with other homeschooled kids and their families - there are lots of sites on line

As for cost it's free. I'm home schooled so i'll give you the pro's and con's of it...
.Home School Pros.
-Sleeping In
-You get one on one teacher help.
-Go to school once a week at the same time to turn in hw and take tests.
-Longer work hours (if you have a job)
.Home School Cons.
-You only accomplish 1 subject at a time (at public you do 6 at a time)
-No friends until they're out of school.
-It can be overwhelming when first starting. (or if you have a job it can be hard balancing both)
-You can maybe become a procrastinator (waiting until last minute to do alll of your hw)
But I definatley recommend it if your having problems at school or just plain and simple don't like school.
Hope I helped :]

there is no one in the entire world who can tell you everything about anything. look on the Internet for home schooling sites, read magazines and books from the library. why do you want to be home schooled? then go after answers that may produce the information of things you need to know.

No one knows "everything" about ANY subject.
But for home schooling, requirements vary by state.
Do a web search and find home schooling associations/groups in your state.
Their websites usually list the specific requirements you need to know, and many times will give you a contact to call or email for more information.

well i was homeschooled and i don't recommend it at all. i guess it really depends of what type of homeschooling you do. but i didn't learn anything....i was able to cheat my way through almost anything, its boring, they're were tests so i'm not good at studying right now, and i couldn't get a lot of help even if i wanted it. and plus your social skills go waaay down...even if you do have a lot of close friends...and plus you miss out a lot.

its a bad thing to do to a child don't do it . all you have to do is go to the grocery during school hours and look at all the home school children in the grocery. and its chalked up as a field trip. the average home school child does not get a full week of school the entire schooling.
