Life is the mystery which surrounds you, where you came from, and where you are headed. Life is where you are. Life is who you are, and who you would like to be, and how you yearn for something or some one you don't have.
Tito Bob made the first real effort to answer your question. I hope that more people will tackle this one.
Life is not anymore limited to carbon-based life forms. Life may not even be limited from what is artificial intelligence.
I would dare to say we know more about what life doesn't seem to be, than what we can say it is. Is crystalline growth not life? Is the rich microenvironment of a corpse not life?
I would hope that you have a few inklings, and you enter them in additional details.

I don't think anyone really knows, but everybody has an idea about it. I think the purpose of human life is to seek an understanding of ourselves and our environment, and to maintain and improve these two things as much as we can during our lifetime. It includes seeking an understanding of whatever we think of as the Power behind the origin of the Universe and human life itself. We may not achieve this by ourselves, but any contribution we can make to such understanding is fulfilling our purpose. It's the journey that's important, not the destination.

The question "what is the meaning of life?" means different things to different people. The vagueness of the query is inherent in the word "meaning", which opens the question to many interpretations...
