i need to soundproof a room, mostly just from talking and TV without spending lots of money, and preferably using household items, or something i could just get at walmart.

you can soundproof a room with cardboard egg holders.

Well, I've never heard of sound proofing a room without spending a lot of money! lol Usually cork board or styrafoam is used behind the walls. But, rooms with very little items in them tend absorb noise. Fill the room up with furniture, art work, etc.

You can sound proof a room by using egg cartons! I know it sounds weird but its true. Also if you don't want to, even though its a bit more expensive, you canuse glass blocks.
