I recently moved and always had a gas oven, now I feel like I'm having to learn to cook all over again. Thanks

Broil is only one setting (High) on most electric ovens.
The best way to control the heat from the top only heating element is by raising and lowering the adjustable shelves. The higher the rack the quicker the food item browns.
Leave the door cracked open and never leave to do other activities as the browning will occur fast.

Broil is a very high set temperature on your oven. the only time I use the broil when I cook biscuits after they have started truning brown and then I turn the oven on broil to get the top of them brown. I don't like using the broil.

No. It is a temperature unto itself and the method of cooking is that it is under the heat.
