Ironically I just got the ones ontop of my foot touched up today.
Advice?
-Don't get anything too big, unless you plan to do it in steps. What I got done took two hours, and despite that I made sure to eat, keep hydrated, wasn't sick, etc...after two hours I was ready to pass out. One of the other artists in the shop, a guy, looked in on us, and was shocked. He said that he had only one foot done and there was no way that he would have had done both at the same time. It's damn painful. But it's worth it. I love my tattoo...
-Understand that it may not stick completely the first time. The artist I went to and a couple more I talked to, said feet are notrious for their need for touch ups after they heal. Hence why I went in today. And it hurts more the second time because of the scar tissue.
-Make sure you can walk around without shoes and socks for a GREAT portion of the day. Helps the healing process greatly. And well, without the pressure of the shoes and the rubbing of the socks, it just feels better.
Now....As for what else I did, which can very from person to person.
-I know I said keep your feet uncovered as much as possible, but at night, when I slept I used some thin gauze on the tattoos just to safe guard them at night since I toss and turn. I didn't want to scratch them with my toenails or something during the night.
-I made sure not to get themed soaked in the bath/shower for a good two weeks. It's not easy, but I think it helped.
I hope that helps!

Pain shouldn't be an issue when you're getting a tattoo. If you really want it, you should be willing to put up with some temporary discomfort. Also, that placement of a tattoo is up to YOU (with your tattoo artist's imput). Wherever you think your design would look right is where it belongs - there's no "cutest" place for a tattoo. There are stereotypical places, like ankles or lower back, but that doesn't mean that those are the best places for any given tattoo. Personally, I really love the tattoo on the back of my neck, which is not a normal place for people (especially girls) to get one.
Many artists either refuse to tattoo feet (and hands), or don't garuntee their work when it is done on feet. That's because it's hard to heal an area that is constantly being rubbed under pressue (from shoes). The best time to get a tattoo on your foot is during the summer, so you can wear flip-flops and allow it to heal completely before putting on shoes that could rub it.

I have a really colorful swallow with stars around it on my foot. I really like it. I dont mind that people always see it since i live in florida, and im always wearing sandals, but think about that. If you are ever at a fancy event, and you're wearing heals, everyone is going to see it. Personally, i love that about my tattoo, because it shows a wild side no matter what im wearing.
As far as the pain goes, it did hurt, but i havent gotten any other tattoos, so i dont know if its extra painful on your foot. I dont think its anything you wouldnt be able to handle though. And plus, this is something you're going to have forever, so its okay if its hurts.
good luck with it!

Go with along the top. Foot tattoos are hard enough to heal, and the sides usually fade and need to be touched up quite a bit from rubbing on your shoe. The top will be the same, but it's easier to find shoes that have no tops for healing times.

Ithink tattoos are great and the better the hiding place the happier you will be a tattoo in the right place give you the oppertunity to conceal your self from snotty uppidy people who shun that life style for instance a new boss or mother in law, son or daughter who wants one. oh and you cant donate blood. yeah and remember one accessory may not go well with every out fit (you dont want a kiss tounge hanging out the back of your Dolce & Gabbana Oh! ankle tatts are the cuittiest

I think getting one on the foot is fine, but keep in mind it's a little colder now and the chances of it being covered up for most of the day are pretty likely (keeping a tattoo covered makes the healing process longer, and you can loose some of it's color). I would get one (in fact that's where my next one will be), but I would wait til it's warmer.

I have one on my ankle. Have you had a tattoo? On your foot is not the best place because the pain is going to be enormose. The best place for a female to have a tatt is on her shoulder or ankle. I am getting ready to have one put on my upper right buttock. I know from experience that if there is no fat the tatt with be incredibly painful. Please make sure you pick the tatt you will want forever. AND PICK A SUPER CLEAN AND GOOD TATTOO PARLOR.

I never thought of putting a tattoo on the feet. That's pretty neat.
But who's going to be looking at it? Only when you are lying down will people see it. And won't it wear off really fast like that?
Instead, put in on your forehead.

I think that tattoos on feet are quite sexy (provided that you have nice feet and that the tattoo is tasteful). I suggest getting one in black - all of my tattoos are black and in a similar style and I've never regretted having them.
I saw a picture of a tattoo on a sole of a foot and it looked extremely sexy, but I don't reccommend getting one (painful).

Foot tat's are cool but YOU have to take care of it properly; no heels or tight shoes until it heals; which can take up to a month! Take a shower, or more, daily; you can get away with soaking ya foot I guess! And use Tattoo Goo or another cream or lotion to help it heal! Good luck Sweety & send me a pic!
