I am just curious. I met someone today who said that if her son was drafted, she would make him leave the country.

Thank God there is no draft.

I meant Draft Dodgers, not Draft Doggers.

Draft dodgers are spineless and they are useless to us all. I am an 2 time Iraqi war vet and currently still in the Marine Corps. I can not understand how anyone could sit there and enjoy the freedoms that they have... and not be willing to fight for them if necessary. I joined because I felt that I should do my part and help protect the freedoms that I have enjoyed. You can't truly appreciate the freedoms that you have without never having to give them up.

Well if Rangel(D-NY) has anything to do with it the draft will be back, plans to introduce a bill early next year. The question about draft dodgers, they should be hunted down and shot. Now let me ask this, what if the person who dodged and in their place your son or daughter was drafted and killed on the battle field then how would you feel. If you refuse to sign up for the draft then your a$$ should be deported .

When your nation is in danger it is the duty of everyone to defend their country. Iraq has merely become a killing field brought about by the Draft Dodgers in power in Washington. Vietnam was also a war of aggression on the part of the US. I'm reprinting some info, then tell me you would want your child to die for this reason.

Tomorrow marks the day that we will have been in Iraq longer than we were in all of World War II.

That's right. We were able to defeat all of Nazi Germany, Mussolini, and the entire Japanese empire in LESS time than it's taken the world's only superpower to secure the road from the airport to downtown Baghdad.

And we haven't even done THAT. After 1,347 days, in the same time it took us to took us to sweep across North Africa, storm the beaches of Italy, conquer the South Pacific, and liberate all of Western Europe, we cannot, after over 3 and 1/2 years, even take over a single highway and protect ourselves from a homemade device of two tin cans placed in a pothole. No wonder the cab fare from the airport into Baghdad is now running around $35,000 for the 25-minute ride. And that doesn't even include a friggin' helmet.

Is this utter failure the fault of our troops? Hardly. That's because no amount of troops or choppers or democracy shot out of the barrel of a gun is ever going to "win" the war in Iraq. It is a lost war, lost because it never had a right to be won, lost because it was started by men who have never been to war, men who hide behind others sent to fight and die.

Let's listen to what the Iraqi people are saying, according to a recent poll conducted by the University of Maryland:

** 71% of all Iraqis now want the U.S. out of Iraq.

** 61% of all Iraqis SUPPORT insurgent attacks on U.S. troops.

Yes, the vast majority of Iraqi citizens believe that our soldiers should be killed and maimed! So what the hell are we still doing there? Talk about not getting the hint.

If you support the war in Iraq, than pray to God to forgive for going against His teachings.

There still is a draft. They just haven't had to use it. And for Draft Dodgers, how can they claim to be an American if they won't fight for their own country, when they have to. Sorry, to me if you're a draft dodger, you should just stay in the country you ran to, because America don't need you back here!

Draft dodgers are the scum of the earth. Being a citizen has certain duties and answering the call of the draft is one. These are people who think it is OK to use the services of their country such as roads, police protection, SSI, etc.... but give nothing back and think it is OK for their neighbor to pay the price for the freedoms they have.

WW II was a moral war, and if such a thing happened again... as hurtful as it would be, I would understand my son wanting to fight for such a cause.

The war in Iraq is an immoral war, and those who fight in it are fighting for an immoral cause.

If my son were called up for such a war, I would rather he go to prison than make concessions to bigotry, greed, mindless vengeance and overwhelming stupidity. If my son had to die for a cause, then that cause had better be just.

The U.S. war in Iraq is not only unjust, it is evil.

Given a suitable cause, most people would enlist anyway. Look at World War II.

I don't agree with their choice to avoid military service, if called on by their country to serve.
but I understand that a person has to remain true to what they believe in. and I hope if they get caught they are ready to pay for their beliefs. because I have a feeling that with the President we have now. that price is going to be extremely high.

I fully support a voluntary military. Soldiers that are pushed in to service without wanting serve make poor soldiers. That only endangers everyone else.
