Yeah, problem. The US Flag is a symbol that has been respected for centuries. It is a symbol of America and our country and our way of life. It is disrespectful to use the American Flag for a doormat, and I would think you would understand how this is so. Are you just trying to create a bad effect on others by "advertising" how much you don't respect the symbol as well as what it represents. If you have a symbol you do respect, then imagine it used for a degraded purpose -- a wedding ring, a religious artifact, a card sent to you once by a loved one. Where disrespecting those may only insult you, disrespecting the American Flag insults all Americans.

i think you're a total douche bag for even asking this question. the whole idea of a marine wiping his feet on the "American flag" whether or not it was a doormat is stupid i cant picture a serviceman from any branch of the military doing this and by far not a united states marine.if this is true he would have slapped the living **** out of you and then he would have this doormat properly destroyed by incineration i think its all crap.and where ever you buy American flag doormats which Ive never seen one myself should be boycotted and forced into bankruptcy.

Having served in the Marine Corps during the time of the draft, I knew some people who wore the uniform, but who's hearts weren't true to their uniform or their country. Mostly, they would have gone to Canada but got drafted before they could skip out. It seems we all want want the Marines and others who have served with honor and distinction have purchased for us through their (and their family's) sacrifices. If, and that is a BIG if, some former Marine did this, he was obviously one of the draftees, hence not a true Marine at heart. I have found through the many years since my tenure in the Corps, that the ones such as I have mentioned, are quick to tell people that they were in the Green Machine. They do, however, fail to mention the fact that they were bad examples of the incredibly high standard of duty, honor, and dignity that most Marines display both while on active duty, and for the rest of their lives. I still carry myself with the military carriage, show respect at all times, and would gladly serve again if called upon to do so. Your "friend", if indeed there was/is such a person, was a Marine in name only. I find such behavior reprehensible.

As the wife of a Marine, I would not want that Marine in my house. I really doubt a Marine would do that, as these men and women have the utmost respect for our country. I guess since its a free country, it's okay for you to have a flag as a doormat, but it is extremely disrespectful in my opinion.

Have my doubts you are being serious in asking this question, but I'll answer nonetheless.
Seeing as congress was concerning themselves with such 'important' matters as laws against flag-burning, I'm sure such an act as using a flag for a doormat is against some unneccessary law.
Other than that (and including that, I suppose) I can't see any reason not to. Do as you wish, this is supposedly a democracy, after all. You know, spreading liberty and **** like that. Cheers.

if it is a "door mat" then it isn't an american "flag" now, is it?
it might be a door mat that *looks like* an american flag.....but the laws only cover "FLAGS", not "things with pictures of flags on them"
:)

No, that is far worse than burning the flag. I SERIOUSLY doubt a marine wiped his feet on the flag, actually, I don't just doubt it, I KNOW you are lying
These sort of activities should amount to treason

How do you get it to lay flat?
And I don't really think it's okay to do that, but it's your choice. After all, you spent six years in the Marines training puppies to protect your rights to do things like that, so whatever.
