I'm 22 and he's 42. We are both in love. I noticed when we were in the pub yesterday having a drink,a man and woman infront of us were at another table, anyway, the man said something to the woman and then the woman turned around and looked at us(so did the man). I thought it was rude that they made it so obvious,i could tell they were talking about us. Do you think it is because of the age difference and they could tell?do you think we will always get stares?

hey,

i'm not entirely sure because i don't know the whole story, were the two of you showing affection to each other ( kissing, cuddling, that sort of stuff?), if so than maybe yes it was the whole age gap thing, because in reality he is old enough to be you father, but all power to you for dating an older guy, i hope i can still get a girl as young as you when i am that old.

but i must also err on the side of caution, just think when he is 60/70 you will still be in your prime and also pretty much at the back end of your body clocks prime time. then people will either be thinking he is your father for real or think you are his carer, if he gets ill.

sorry if i sound as though i'm against but i like to try and look at things both ways ( pros and cons)

hope this helps

Well without seeing a picture of both of you it's hard to tell if the age difference could be noticed. My guess is that he probably does look noticeably older than you and if so then people will probably have some remark or another to make about it.

But who cares what anyone else thinks or what others are saying? As long as you are happy then that is all that matters. 42 is not even that old and older guys can be extremely attractive (I give you George Clooney as an example - what woman wouldn't say yes :) ). Forget about it and just enjoy yourself!!

Maybe I'm stero-typical, but I don't think large age gaps are appropriate. If you were in a relationship six years ago, it would be inappropriate. When you are 30, he'll be 50. Further down the line when he's old and wrinkly, will you feel the same way??
When you just 45, he'll be collecting his Free Bus Pass...

If your happy now, I can understand that older men can be more mature than some of the younger men today.
Maybe I just think too far ahead.

I do hope that your happy though.

You should say to someone if they're staring at you two something witty like ,"Take a picture it'll last longer." You need too stand up for yourself and your bf. Age is nothing but a number. Don't get me wrong I've seen some crazy couples even snickered at them. But I'm wrong. Even though it may look funny, don't listen too anyone. Sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you. As long as you're in love, NO ONE can take that away from you!

People always find something to talk about or disagree on, who cares who is staring at you, if you are with your man and your happy fcuk them, just smile and wave.

You could always do what I done, I politely excused myself from my bf (we met when i was 17 and he was 42, that was almost 10 yrs ago) and go over to the table of the people who were staring and ask them to join you cos that would save them straining their necks to look, in my experience, that soon shut them up and they never looked over again :)

it probably was because of the age thing. but dont take any notice. if you are happy and in love then why should it matter... just ignore it. the other couple are obviously very sad and must be such an interesting couple that they have nothing amusing to talk about and have to resort to staring and making fun of other people. just feel good that you have a life and are enjoying it. dont worry about snap judgements made by people who mean nothing to you.

possibly because some people have nothing better than to do that sort of thing. If yall are in love all the power to you. Age means nothing! Your both mature enough to make your own decisions and what other people think shouldnt matter =)
