The Bible says Adam was the first man ... not the ONLY man. We just hear so much about Adam because he was the first guy on the block. It wouldn't make any sense to make billions of type of animals and only 2 humans. (3 if you count Lilith ... Judaism says Adam had a wife before Eve, but they fought about who got to be on top during sex ... do God made Eve, a more docile wife for Adam)

There were other humans that God made, we just don't hear about them. Cain married one of these other people.

It is amazing how often this question arises. Adam and Eve had several sons and daughters. Cain married either a sister or a niece perhaps.

God wanted the human family to actually be family - related to each other. Notice that God did not create Eve totally separate from Adam but rather created her from Adam's rib.

It was only later that God’s Law to the Israelites prohibited marriage between siblings. Leviticus 18:9.

The Bible does not specify all the daughters and sons born of Adam and Eve. Yet the first parents had many children, and not just Able, Seth, and Cain. Until the population began to grow, the men married sisters and nieces.

It was a common practice in Egyptian royalty that the bloodlines stayed in the family. How did they do it? Brother married sister.

Adam and Eve had like 4 daughters and 4 sons. This is in the Qur'an. Of course it's not in the Bible because the Jews think women are a curse and the Christians(Catholics) think that women are to submit to their husbands because it says so in the Bible. Abel was killed because ALLAH told Able to take Cain's wife or something like that because Abel's wife was ugly and Cain's wife was more pretty.

Well, let's see:
Genesis 1:21 - "And God said "let us make man in our image, after our likeness (...)"
Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in his own image (...) male and female created he them."
So these were the first people. BEFORE Adam and Eve were created, god (or gods, hence the expresion "let US") created this god-like creatures.
Genesis 2:7 - And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his norstrils the breath of life (...)"
THIS was Adam (not so god-like).
The first people were given the Earth to live on, and Adam and Eve were living in the garden of Eden. The conclusion would be that Cain's wife was one of the inhabitants of the Earth.

It's clear the standard interpretation of "first" is flawed. Science has proven that there were humans on Earth long before Adam and Eve. When we consider that all that is contained in the Bible is spiritual in nature then it stands to reason that "first" has a spiritual meaning rather than a physical one. In the history of human evolution, Adam and Eve were the first humans to recognize that they had been created and, therefore, the first to recognize a Creator.

and before he even has any sisters, when god is telling Cain his punishment, Cain asks what will happen to him when he comes across other people.

Thus, there already were other people!

Thus, Adam and Eve are not the originatos of the entire human race, but perhaps the originators of the Hebrews.

I've had this explained to me by a theologian. This is a question William Jennings Bryan stumbled on in the Scopes trial. But nowadays the official explanation is that God created more people (including Cain's wife) and just did not mention these extra people in Genesis.
