Sexual freedom is always good. If your partner asked you to do this he probably thinks he can confide a lot in you and you should feel proud. It is great to share fantasies with your partner. You will probably have a more healthy relationship as opposed to him getting his desires elsewhere.
As for the strap on I would definitely do it, I do not think I would enjoy it much, but as an experience it would be great cause it would give me a guy`s point of view.
I do not find anything about his request weird, dirty or unusual.

I say people are too uptight about sexuality. I say...bring it up and if he is willing....go for it! It could add great spice to your sex life. I've used one on my ex-husband (just because they like it doesn't mean they are gay people!) and it really turned me on, and him as well. We didn't use it all the time, just occasionally to spice things up when things got a little dull. Do WHAT EVER YOU WANT in your own bedroom...it should be no holds barred in your own private space.
