the age of accountability is a man made addition to scripture ensuring that babies who die don't go to Hell. Technically all have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 NIV) including children. The idea that an "innocent"* child would be banished to Hell makes no sense from a loving and caring God, but we have to remember He is also a just God who cannot go back on his word. "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV) which is plainly stating that unless you follow Him, you are kept seperate from the Father. There is no other way, according to Jesus, meaning that there is no alternate route to the Father. Black and white. No grey. Then, in order to make ourselves feel better about God, we added this "age of accountability" to Christian theology, forgetting all about the devastation He ordered in the Old Testement. He is not as concerned with you getting to Heaven as some would like to believe. Finally, if there were such a thing as "age of accountability," wouldn't the best thing a good Christian could do be to kill infants and prevent their souls from even standing the chance of being banished to Hell? It's perverted, I know!

*to understand my argument you have to realize that according to the Bible no child is innocent or free from sin. We're born into it.

The "age of accountability" is when you know from right from wrong. Before you can be baptized, you have to hear the gospel preached and have believe it. Faith must always precede baptism, so only those old enough to understand and believe the gospel are considered fit subjects for baptism. For being in the Scripture, it isn't taught in the Scriptures.

In exodus.

When Moses came down from the mountain and saw what the people had done.

God told Moses that as punishment, anyone over the age of 21 would wander the desert until they died and would not enter the promised land.

It is the basis of many laws to this day as far as accountability goes. You must be at least 21 to own stock in companies, and to drink alcohol legally in most states in America.

I know there is a lot of speculation as to different ages and mental conditions and such, but biblically, this is the only age of accountability that we actually see written down.

That's a great question! The Bible doesn't give an age or speak to this matter. However, the Lord allowed all to die in the desert except the ones 20 and younger. It is most reasonable to believe that only God has this magical age to consider. He alone knows the heart and the circumstances thus you can count on Him to always have ones best interest in mind.

This is a good question! I too have often thought this- for some reason growing up I was told it was about 8 years old. I do not know in the Bible where there is reference to this- so I hope you get an answer by someone who does know this because I would like to see some scripture too! Good question!

the age of accountability is not necessairily taught in scripture. But, there is a ceritan age of maturity in which the child is old enough and mature enough to understand the concept of Christ's death on the cross for our salvation. For me, it was five, for my brother, it was seven, for a friend of mine, it was three. Age of accountability is not a blanket age. It depends on the person. Though, after seven, most should be old enough to understand

From the Holy Qur'an, God (Allah) says that the age of accountability starts when you hit puberty or when you start developing an attraction for the opposite sex. That is when you are able to make decisions and are able to tell right from wrong. If you think about it, a person can not be held accountable if he/she does understand what they are they and this will probably be at a very young age. Also, as soon as a person hit puberty, or the age of accountability, God (Allah) assigns two angels for them to record their deeds either good or bad.

they think of they have each and all the solutions and seem to instruct God's word incorrect. the element is, they are in a position to't. Scripture is spiritually discerned, and a guy or woman desires a non secular connection to somewhat understand what's written. So, they do no longer likely study scripture, and that they easily are unqualified to coach it.

No age is given. Most young Jewish men were considered capable of responsibility at age twelve, but not a full grown man until age 30.
Today most young men (Americans) do not show maturity until they are approaching 35 on average.
