The Chi Iron works great to me even though a salesperson in Trade Secret told me that the Paul Mitchell iron worked better.

The easy answer is GHD, but the market for hair straighteners has really changed over the last few years. The latest Remington S1041 Sleek & Curl is easily as good as a GHD and has a 3 year guarantee as opposed to GHD's 1 year.

Best of all it's half the price!

The Remington hair straightener has the following features:

* Digital slim styling straightener
* Fast heat-up. Ready in 60 seconds
* Ceramic, Tourmaline & Teflon coated plates = 3X protection
* Ceramic: high even heat, protects against hot spots
* Tourmaline: rich with ionic properties, reduces static and frizz
* Teflon: non-stick, easy glide reduces hair snagging & breakage
* Smooth and shiny results every time
* Rounded design & edges creates defined curls, flicks & waves
* Professional high heat: 130C to 200C
* Digital technology provides ultimate heat control
* Automatic safety shut off after 1 hour
* Curl Secrets DVD
* Heat Protection / Presentation box
* Storage pouch
* Salon length 3m cable
* Manufacturer's 3-year guarantee

Whatever hair straightner you buy make sure its ceramic and always use a heat protection spray or cream!

I think that ghd is the best, just don't leave it plugged in and don't use your ghd to pinch your best friends boyfriend.

If your not looking to spend a fortune on a good one, try checking reviews of flat irons
