I also went to the doc around the time I was four weeks. Absolutely NOTHING showed up on the u/s. Not even the gestational sac. I waited three weeks and went back for a repeat u/s and there my little bun was! I measured 7weeks and one day. You are probably just not far enough along yet to see the baby. Shame on the hospital workers for scaring the daylights out of you by mentioning a blighted ovum. If you are only four weeks along, then it's very possible that the only thing you can see is the sac...give it a couple of more weeks and go in for another u/s. I can just about guarantee you'll see your bun!

This happened to me when I was just barely six weeks pregnant - the doctor at the ER told me that they couldn't see the heartbeat, so it was either too early or I was miscarrying. Since I had been bleeding off and on, she told me I must be miscarrying. Result: a huge scare and grief over a baby that was fine and dandy. I had my son seven months later. My advice: call your OB. Tell them what the hospital said and that you're really nervous. A good OB will get youright in to calm your fears and make certain everything is ok. Stress is no good to that little one. GOOD LUCK!!!

i was told the same thing when i was a little over 5 weeks pregnant (this pregnancy). at 7 weeks they were able to see the baby (looked like a piece of shrimp) and it's heart was beating! NOW i am 18 weeks and EVERYTHING is great with the baby.

Sorry but I believe you would have the same symtoms if your body is preparing to carry a child, whether the sac is full or not.

Good luck - I hope you are!
