Call the shelter or go there and ask them if they know where Chiccago (by the way, adorable name!! :)!) I hate how people have to be alergic to animals or plants! Its soooooooo sad. but the shelter may not give you information about its adoption because they fear you may take their pet back. so just ask them to call the family and ask if he/she is doing good.

Depending on how long ago you gave Chiccago up, the shelter might still have it. In that case I'd find out what their policies are in the event they can't adopt it out, and if, God forbid, they put them to sleep, I'd take it back and either find a way to live with it (sometimes shaving the fur solves the problem, since 9 times out of 10 it's the fur you're allergic to), or give it away to someone you trust. Even if the shelter keeps them indefinitely, things happen. Sometimes they have so many mouths to feed and so many to care for that they don't always give the animals the best of attention and/or the best of care. For your own peace of mind you can still find someone you trust to adopt Chiccago, even if it is still in the shelter. Just be sure to let them know before they do something! Good luck and God bless!!

You could ask the shelter, however they may not be at liberty to disclose this to you if they are a kill shelter as these facilities will euthanize unadoptable cats. Most shelters usually will not disclose this info to families to protect the interest of the cat's welfare or avoiding conflict of interest with the new owners too.

shelters generally will not give out this info to protect the new owners because some people will attempt to take back their cats from the new families and this is why they do not give out any info. They look at it this way...if you surrendered the cat you do not deserve to know why, who or what. It's cold, but it's the facts.

go back to the shelter you bought it to and ask if the cat was adopted or not. Ask what the shelters policies are concerning who they will adopt an animal to. Most likely if it was adopted it went to a good home.

good luck

Unfortunately when you give up a pet you give up all rights. The shelter cannot release information to you without breaking the law.

You can only hope that she is in a good home.
