I am asking this because I feel that there are too many calories on certain foods and I want to know what you think.

For example, I thought a whopper burger with cheese has 300 calories when in fact it has up to 800 calories. Or a slice of pecan pie i thought has 200 calories when in fact it has 500 calories.

My point is do you think that certain foods contain more calories than you think?

My local newspaper runs a column every week where they have a chemistry laboratory analyze the nutritional content of certain foods. Most of the time the results are within reasonable limits of the info on the package. Sometimes they are not - and that's when the column gets fun. I think they may have even prosecuted some "diet" brands for fraud and false advertising when their products differed from the analysis posted on the wrapping.

The 300 calorie burger is the "Whopper Jr. with cheese" it is approximately the same size and calorie content as the McDonalds cheeseburger (310 calories).

Sweet pecan pie, however, has so many calories per ounce that even thinking about it too hard will cause you to gain weight. Abstain from remembering the crunchy snap when you bite down on a pecan crusted with carmelized sugar. Do not let your mind dwell on the richness of the evaporated milk, the sweet twang of dark Karo syrup, or the warm glow of vanilla. Go and eat some healthy celery.
