Because when Plan A failed,they didn't have a Plan B.
The Us government was so convinced that the Iraqi people would welcome them with open arms and that victory over the military would be easy.
If you remember most of the Iraqi military faded away because they knew they couldn't win a conventional war because of a lack of air power. They are now waging a guerrilla war and the US govt. have no idea how to handle this

The United States military is not failing in Iraq.

It is the United States Government which has failed the very Marines, sailor, soldiers and airmen which they sent over there.

If the US Military would be allowed to do what it is so good at doing, Winning wars, then there wouldn't be a problem in Iraq.

The LOOSING is happening in Washington DC. If we are to go do this, then let's do it and be done with it, and go home. But too many leftists, civil rights, ignorant sh1theads out there seem to think we like to fight wars. Most of this I atrribute to the lying media and those who insist on believing their propoganda as truth.

If we (all of us) support the cause, show some balls, and make it clear that we mean business, we will be taken seriously. As for now, we are embarassing ourselves there, and here at home, for doing a half-@sses job in a half-@ssed manner. In the mean time my friends, your families, sons, daughters, husbands, and wives are risking their lives and getting killed for nothing.

My real concern is what are the Demo(socialist)crats going to do when they take the helm. If we withdrawl all of our assests from Iraq, right now, the Iraqis will more than likely find a replacement for Sadam and put themselves right back where they were a few years ago. If we stay, at least we have some idea of what kind of turmoil to expect from that part of the world. There has always been a war in the mid-east. All the whining and crying blaming Bush and the Republicans is BS.

Maybe had the Demosocialcrats done something about it when it started back when Clinton was avoiding the issues, we wouldn't be there today.

"Mission was Not Accomplished" our president just wanted to play "Topgun"

If you read the history of Iraq, you will know that there has always been fighting in the region between factions or tribes. Iraq was never actually a country but was created by the British. So, for Iraq it is just the state of going back to normal.

Bush should have read history and believed the UN observers.

The war is still going on because it will always go on and always has been going on since ancient times. If anything, Saddam was the one who brought unity to the "country" and squelched the civil uprisings but at a great cost to his countrymen.

The only way we can "win" the war is to nuke Iraq off the face of the Earth because we cannot send in enough soldiers to contain the violence and try to maintain the level of stewardship required to police a place to which we were not invited, never should have gone, and are deeply resented.

It's because the press has decided to hire Iraqi Sunnis and Shitte militias to report the news. The death counts and stuff are way over blown. People are being reported killed that never existed in real life. Mosques are fine yet reported destroyed. The tourching of the Sunnis probably never happened. The fighting is generally happening in 4 cities in a country the size and population of California and it's generally Sunni vs Shitte militias. It's like a gang war in Mexico. The allies will probably have achieved 2/3 of their goal by the end of this year. The number (that the U.S. thought was needed) of police and soldier will have all been trained, Iraq's democratically elected government will be in charge of of 50% of their land and about half the building projects (hospitals, schools, utilities and police stations) will have been built all by the end of this year.

On 1 May 03 the mission was accomplished. Since that time our armies have been acting as a police force, something that they are ill equiped to do.
Armies were never meant to maintain law and order, their job is to win battles.

Because we blew a country back to the stone age and then with the help of a few special ops soldiers and psy-ops campaigns, were able to turn the different tribes against each other.

On top of that, we underfund our military and de-industrialized america. The people who grow up in our country nowadays eat fast food and potato chips and are extremely unhealthy and are barely fit for war. Nobody carries their rifle with them as a way of life, so hardly anybody in our military can fire a rifle before they go through bootcamp.

The war is not a way of life for Americans as it was during the past world wars, so people can go an entire day without thinking about it.

It's extremely difficult for an occupying military to project it's will on a country that is determined to drive the occupiers out. The British found that out in Iraq almost 100 years ago, as we are today.

Maybe it's because the Democrats surrendered, and therefore have encouraged the insurgents and terrorists.
The Terrorists are still celebrating the Great Democrat Takeover of Congress.
(Hillary & Lieberman are still supporting Bush all the way in Iraq.)
That will be one of the reasons that Hillary will be our next president.
