I would just get about 3 if I were you. The more layers you have, the more body you'll have. It really depends....how long is your hair? Do you have to put it up a lot? Do you have quite a bit of time in the morning to fix your hair? If you have to put it up a lot, I wouldn't get more than about 3 or 4 unless your hair is really long. With your layers to short, you can't put it up very easily. It also takes a while to fix a lot of layers. So if you have the time, then go ahead! If not, I wouldn't get that many. Hope I helped!

Things have changed since Jennifer Anniston "invented" the layered haircut in the early 90's. These days, talented stylists don't "count" the number of layers they do. You want your hair to look chunky, yet natural, so that it has extra definition and body.
Just decide how short you want you want the shortest layer to be, and how long you want the longest layer to be. If your stylist doesn't grasp this concept and wants to know exactly how many layers to do, then I would consider going to someone else, and I would recommend that she go back to school to brush up on modern techniques.

when you get your hair layered you don't get a certain number of layers. They'll ask if you want short layers or long layers and you choose one and that's what you get. My hair is shoulder length and I always get long layers. But it depends on the hairstyle you get.

It depends on your current length and the look you are going for. I mean, do you want something choppy or something that is going to blend well. Obviously for a more dramatic look you want less layers set further apart, for the opposing look, try the opposite.

it isnt a matter of HOW many layers, but where to layer it. it depends where u want your hair to wave. for shoulder lenght hair, u can begin the layering at your chin, and bellow. but tell your haircutter where u want your hair to curve/wave, and i m sure he/she will know where to layer

Get a bunch of different layers so it doesn't look jaunty and fake, instead of all flowing together.

Your stylist should determine this by the desired look.
