Observations are important so you can document progress and areas that need more attention. It's too hard to remember what each child's areas of development are. When you observe them , you have concrete evidence of where they are and where they need to be. the next time you observe the same child you can document the growth ( or non-growth)

Without observing a child's behavior, how can you correct, alter or expand on it? You need to be able to observe a child's abilities, in order to be able to see where they need to move to next in development. You have to observe to see how problem behaviors can be corrected. If you have observed a child's abilities, you will be able to know how to get them to the next level in their development.
