Is it forbidden, bad, or haram to pray while wearing nail polish on ones' finger nails or having henna on ones' skin while they are praying, is it haram? Should one remove such things before praying?

It is haraam to pray when you have not done wudu (special form of washing oneself before prayer).

Nail Polish is like paint which forms a barrier on the nails so that water can not get to them. Inorder to do wudu you have to remove nail polish from your nails so that the water reaches all parts of your hands and feet.

It is ok to wear it whilst praying, but I do not wear it because I would have to keep removing it to perform wudu.

As for henna if it prevents water from getting to the surface of the nails, one's wudu would not be valid with it. Most of rthe types of henna we get these days however is absorbed by the skin and does not form a barrier.

Salaam,

I have found many conflicting viewpoints on this issue. I was told by a Muslim friend that women must remove their nail polish before making Wudu, otherwise the the prayer would be nullified. However, I have read arguments on the internet which say that nail polish is not like dirt, but rather temporarily becomes part of the nail once applied. In that way of thinking, it is permissible to wear nail polish when praying.

You must make up your mind on your own and decide which way of thinking is best for you.

And Allah knows best.

alf assalam.

NO, not if you follow Allah and his messengers over people who claim they know better then Allah.

If you follow hadiths that were collected two hundred years after
after the Prophet's (PBUH) death by a mixture of disbelievers and belivers, you are following a path other than that of the propher Deen and came be lead astray. However, if you recite the Quran and seek guidance from Allah, you are on the correct path and when any lie or fabrication concerning your Lord and his prophets come to you, you will know it is not the truth. This is the mistake the Christians made, do you know why they worship Prophet Jesus? Because there scholars told them to! Do you know why there are so many divisions in Christinity, because of scholars stating that they know what Jesus meant, said, wants. People stop reciting the Injil and Torah and succumbed to scholars instead of having faith in the revelations. Allah warns us about these fabricated lies. There are a lot of people who claim to be Muslim but just wish to control people. Allah warns us about these over and over again and says they will roast in the Hell Fire. I have placed my trust in Allah and I recite the Quran, so when lies about Allah and the messenger come up, I will not be lead astray because Allah is guiding me. The Quran is a Living Miracle, a Book that contains guidance for all time, it is a perfect book!

[10:59] Say, "Did you note how GOD sends down to you all kinds of provisions, then you render some of them unlawful, and some lawful?" Say, "Did GOD give you permission to do this? Or, do you fabricate lies and attribute them to GOD?"

Allah has already gave on guidance concerning Wudu, do you chose to follow people who have not been given authority over Allah? You must chose Allah or scholars? Even their agrument is false, Prophet Muhammad wiped over his clothes when he washed up sometimes, so when they say "it prevents water from coming on the nails," is not only baseless, but COMPLETELY MADE up. they dont' even provide any Hadith for it. They are simply making up things.

What Nullifies Ablution

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

[4:44] Have you noted those who received a portion of the scripture, and how they choose to stray, and wish that you stray from the path?

[4:45] GOD knows best who your enemies are. GOD is the only Lord and Master. GOD is the only Supporter.

Allah makes things clear and doesn't leave anything out, don't follow the fabricators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think for wudu, it is preferable to have nothing on your fingers. but praying with nail polish.... there is no harm in it.
for henna there is no harm in making wudu or praying. if it doesn't smell bad.

nail polishes prevent the the water to reach the nails so it is haran to use it as it will prevent water to reach the nails during the ablution mainly, and if the ablution is not true the sala(prayer)willnot be true , but hennah doesn't prevent water from reaching to the nail so it is ok,

and god knows best.

yes it is haram for them to pray while having those things on, and must remove it by the time of wuduu in order to pray. If not, their prayer ( salaat) will be nullified.
