First of all, you don't tell them, you ask them. That's a good start. Then you tell them that you will feed, water and walk it everyday. And if they believe you, they might think about getting you one.

Can't tell you without some details. How old are you? Do you live in a place where you can have a big dog? Do you have a fenced yard? Is someone home during the day to be with the dog and housebreak him, or do both your parents work? It's not fair to get any kind of dog if there is no one home all day. Can your parents afford the dog, the food, and the vet care involved? Is there room in the house for a big dog? It's like adding another person to the house! Do you have chores that you do regularly without having to be told over and over to do them? Give us some details and maybe someone can help you. Good Luck!!

First, you don't tell them, you ask them. And I suspect what you really mean is how do you persuade them.

Kids always say they will take care of the puppy, but they imagine feeding him and taking him out for a walk, and that's about it. There's plenty more. Training, for example. Training to control his body functions so he can be trusted in the house without newspapers spread under him. Training to obey commands, for his safety and yours, for his happiness and yours.

There are veterinary visits and the costs involved. There is nursing the dog when he is sick or injured, even if it grosses you out so bad you lose your cookies.

There's a lot more. This is just the part that comes first to mind. There's grooming and buying a new collar when the old one gets too small, and teaching him how to behave around strangers, and letting him spend time with you, just laying at your feet (and making sure you are careful how you stand up), when you can't spare the time to play with him, and not using him for an excuse not to get your homework done.

"The dog ate it" will not cut any ice.

Why don't you stop being spoiled and just grow up? Or maybe move out of your house and get a dog of your own? You know, parents have a hard job these days, they have financial issues and don't have time to deal with a pet! Even though I am an animal lover, you just have to deal with that yourself! Did you even research one up? Or you just randomly decided "I want a dog!" You know, a dog is a lot of hard work! You have to brush their teeth at least 3 times a week, clean their ears once a week, pick up their poop every day, exercise them at least 1 hour and 30 minutes a day, but you'll probably get bored of your dog in 2 months or so....

Um, oh yeah, I forgot to say this... ALL YOUR ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASKED SUCKS!!!! You obviously have no knowledge of dogs WHATSOEVER!!! Yeah, um, remember your answer to "Why is my dog perverted?" and you said "Because she's in heat and needs a man in her life, take her to a dog park and ask a guy if your dog wants to mate" Obviously you don't know that there are too many puppies in this world with no homes! The better answer was to spay the dang dog! Wow, I feel bad for your dog if you get one... You know, a Fur Real dog would be better for you.

Honey, you shouldn't be "telling" your parents to buy you a damned thing!

When you are an adult, and have a job, and can afford to raise a Lab, then by all means get one. Until then, stop being so spoiled and expecting mommy and daddy to buy you a puppy! In the end THEY are the ones who will end up paying for it, taking care of it, loving it. You'll just get bored and find a new hobby and demand they buy you some thing else.

Unless they want one, you can't. Sorry. You'll just have to wait until you are 18+ and living on your own, before you can make the decisions on pets in the household.
Until then, you'll say the animal is yours, but in all truth, your parents are the ones paying for the food/medical bills/etc. Therefore they're the ones responsible, and maybe they just don't want that right now.

Get on your hands and knees and start beging... but really dont tell them, ask them... you wont get anywhere telling them. By the way labs are really big dogs and take a lot of care.. you might want to look into it first.

if you are over 12 yrs. old, buy the dog your self through side jobs, after you talk to your parents and they say that you can have one
